Please Note: For those wishing to participate in the ACS Delegation to Israel, we require acknowledgment of the U. S. State Department Travel Warning currently in effect for Israel, The West Bank, and Gaza (dated April 11, 2017). Our Travel Warning Waiver and Release form will be provided for your review and signature.

Please note that this specialized program is being developed in conjunction with your professional counterpart organization. The time, order, location, and content of the professional meetings are subject to availability of and confirmation by the hosts, as well as the relevant background and expertise of the traveling participants. Participation is strongly encouraged for all scheduled meetings as a general professional courtesy to your professional hosts.

**A limited number of single rooms are available at extra cost on a first-come, first-served basis, but availability cannot be guaranteed. Academic Travel Abroad will assist persons requesting a roommate. However, neither a single room nor a share can be guaranteed. Participants will be contacted to confirm/deny space in a single occupancy room while making note of the request for a roommate. If we are successful in finding a suitable roommate, the enrollee will be refunded the single supplement. If we are unsuccessful in finding a suitable roommate, the enrollee will remain enrolled with the single occupancy package.

Day 1 — Sunday, April 8 | Tel Aviv

Arrive at Ben Gurion Airport in the afternoon, and enjoy a welcome dinner in Tel Aviv. (Dinner)

Day 2 — Monday, April 9 | Tel Aviv

Visit the General Surgery Division at Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center to discuss the range of surgical care, and visit the trauma center. After lunch, take a tour of the Old Port City of Jaffa and Rothschild Boulevard. Visit Carmel Market before enjoying dinner and the evening at your leisure. (Breakfast, Lunch)

Day 3 — Tuesday, April 10| Tel Aviv

At the Sheba Medical Center, meet with representatives of the Israel Surgical Association to gain insight on the current Israeli healthcare system. Discuss current public health priorities, the quality and value of healthcare delivery, and the financial structure of the healthcare system. After lunch as a group, continue to the Medical Corp of the Israel Defense Forces to discuss surgical procedures in the field and the life of Israel’s overseas Medical Response Team. Enjoy dinner and the evening at your leisure. (Breakfast, Lunch)

Day 4 — Wednesday, April 11 | Haifa

Check out of the hotel this morning and travel north to the city of Caesarea, built by Herod the Great and view the ancient Roman Theater still used for performances today. Then, visit a Druze village and learn about this fascinating Arabic-speaking community that lives in Israel and serves in its Army. Experience Druze hospitality and have lunch as a group. Stop at the beautiful Bahai Gardens overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. This afternoon, discuss first response surgical care at the Rambam Medical Center in Haifa. (Breakfast, Lunch)

Day 5 — Thursday, April 12 | Jerusalem

Visit Rebecca Sieff Hospital in Safed to discuss the treatment of patients flown in from Syria for medical procedures. Then visit the mystical city of Safed, the birthplace of Kabbalah. Stroll through narrow, winding alleyways and discover some of Safed’s many beautiful synagogues, artists’ workshops and galleries. After lunch, drive along the Sea of Galilee and head south to Jerusalem. Enjoy the evening at your leisure. (Breakfast, Lunch)

Day 6 — Friday, April 13 | Jerusalem

This morning, visit the Western Wall, the Davidson Center, and the Jewish Quarter in the Old City of Jerusalem. Next, visit Yad Vashem, Israel’s national Holocaust museum and memorial. Continue to the Israeli Museum, which houses the Dead Sea Scrolls. In the afternoon return to the Old City to explore the other 3 quarters—Christian, Muslim, and Armenian. In the evening, enjoy Sabbath dinner with a local family. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 7 — Saturday, April 14 | Jerusalem

Depart for the Dead Sea, which, at 1400 feet below sea level, has the lowest land elevation in the world. Ascend to the ancient fortress and synagogue of Masada, the final stronghold of the Jewish Zealots in their struggle against the Romans. In the afternoon, enjoy a swim in the Dead Sea. Return to hotel to rest. This evening, gather as a group for a farewell dinner at a local restaurant. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 8 — Sunday, April 15 | En Route

Transfer to Ben Gurion Airport for individual flights home. (Breakfast)

Then visit Start.il for an insider’s perspective on the Israeli innovation and entrepreneurial scene, and the future of the country’s technological sector. After lunch, join the delegates for a tour of the Old Port City of Jaffa and Rothschild Boulevard. Visit Carmel Market before enjoying dinner and the evening at your leisure. (Breakfast, Lunch)

Day 3 — Tuesday, April 10 | Tel Aviv

Visit Kibbutz Ein Shemer this morning. Learn about the Israeli commune way of life from communal farming, cooking, childcare and more. This afternoon, visit Zikhron Ya’akov, one of the first Jewish villages in what was then Ottoman-ruled Palestine, founded in 1882. Zikhron Ya’akov is considered by many to also be the wine capital of Israel. End the day at Tishbi Winery for a gourmet chocolate and wine tasting. Return to Tel Aviv for an evening at leisure. Day 4 — Wednesday, April 11 | Haifa
